At SAHA EXPO 2024, SAVER Savunma, a subsidiary of ERMAKSAN, unveiled the 40mm THUNDERBOLT naval gun, designed to meet the Turkish Navy's need for a domestically produced weapon. The THUNDERBOLT, with its dual-barrel 40mm L/70 caliber gun, can fire 300 rounds per minute and has a maximum range of 12.5 km. This naval system, a key project under the "40mm Turkish-Type Naval Gun Project," offers a cost-effective alternative to the Oto Melara DARDO. With an advanced fire control system by ASELSAN and compatibility with airburst munitions, this system provides superior firepower and operational flexibility for Turkey's naval platforms. The THUNDERBOLT supports Turkey’s defense autonomy, reducing reliance on foreign defense systems, and is poised for potential export. By integrating seamlessly with Turkish-developed combat systems, it strengthens Turkey’s military capabilities and global defense influence.
