The Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer is a 2012-present chronometer, fulfilling the aesthetic promise of the very first Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometers from 1996. The sports watch is also a different look than many other models. As of 2012, the watch is powered by the caliber 118.
The 43mm watch has a stainless steel case at 14mm thick with a sloped bezel. From lug to lug, the watch measures 51mm but there is a slight flair from the hinged strap. This hing also allows the watch to wear comfortably and on smaller watches. Completing the strap is a trigger deployant clasp found in titanium, helping keep the watch light. The strap thins out as it moves away from the hinges, making it bend and wear easily.
The watch is 200m water resistant. The dial recalls the deck clocks from the 19th century. The layout is almost exactly the same, with a vertical axis and cleverly placed date window. The entire dial is lightly lumed, allowing you to view in low or no light environments. The watch does feature a quick set date, able to move in either direction for easy setting.
The details really lift this watch. From the coined bezel to the flamboyant numerals marking the case flank of the watch referencing marine chronometers. Moving to the movement itself, there is a 60 hour power reserve.
