Back to School for Congress: What Nonprofits Need to Know
Summer is over and legislators are back to school, only to discover those assignments that they put off are still waiting for them! In addition to facing a government shutdown at the end of the month, Congress must also extend key nutrition, agriculture, and flood insurance programs — or those in need may face dire consequences.
Beyond the front-page headlines, there is action in key committees that could impact disclosure of nonprofit grantees, restrict the use of foreign donations, and more. Meanwhile, both parties are starting to lay the groundwork for major tax legislation and other priorities, should they prevail in whole or in part during November’s elections.
