At the beginning of October, China welcomed Grzegorz Karnas Formula with the Azeri pianist Elchin Shirinov, double bass player Alan Wykpisz and the drummer Grzegorz Masłowski. The group commenced its tour on 11th October, in Beijing – their second appearance at the Nine Gates Festival. This oldest Chinese jazz festival also hosted Stryjo – an experimental trio by Nikola Kołodziejczyk, and the quintet led by Stanisław Słowiński – the winner of Jazz Juniors 2015. It was a “Polish Jazz Night” – for the first time in the history of the festival, the organizers decided to devote a large part of the programme to a single country. ‘Polish jazz is known for its creativity, energy and uniqueness. It cannot be compared to the music made in other European countries. Having visited Poland a couple of times, I have always been amazed by the development pace your scene displays, especially in the way how so many young artists are eager to take on jazz music. The musicians create their pieces with an impressive sophistication of true masters’, said Adam Huang, the General Secretary to the Chinese Jazz Musicians’ Association.
波兰爵士声乐艺术家格热戈日·卡尔纳斯携阿塞拜疆钢琴家Elchin Shirinov，贝斯手Alan Wykpisz，及鼓手Grzegorz Maslowski于2016年十月初亮相北京。乐队于2016年10月11日二访北京九门爵士音乐周。与他们同台演出的还有由波兰钢琴家尼古拉·科沃杰伊赤克领衔的实验性爵士三重奏Stryjo，以及由2015波兰青年爵士乐大奖赛冠军获得者斯坦尼斯瓦夫·索维尼斯基领衔的爵士五重奏。此次名为“波兰之夜”的音乐会是主办方北京九门爵士音乐周创办11年以来，第一次为来自同一国家的音乐家集中举办大型音乐会活动。中国音协爵士乐学会常务副会长、秘书长黄勇先生表示，波兰爵士音乐极具活力及高度原创性，与欧洲其他地区的爵士音乐相比有其独特的魅力。在多次访问波兰后，他为波兰爵士乐的高度发展及年轻波兰音乐家的活力、创造力、以及音乐修养的成熟度所折服。

Grzegorz Karnas Formula played at jazz festivals in several other cities, including the exceptional sold-out concert in the Sichuan Music Conservatory, where a local female orchestra – Beauty & Melody – accompanied the Polish musicians. The artists presented both Karnas’ songs and traditional Chinese melodies. The culmination of their tour was the concert at the most prestigious concert hall in the south of China – the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou, which took place on 24th October. It was held as part of the Guangzhou Jazz Festival, which included the likes of Randy Becker, WDR Big Band and Lisa Ono. Grzegorz Karnas prepared a dedicated programme presented both in Polish and Mandarin. He also gave lectures on vocal improvisation. ‘Having in mind the characteristics of the Middle Kingdom, I created a repertoire with a core part in Mandarin. It is an eccentric story referring to the Old Testament tale of Paradise Lost. A story of love, disappointment, envy and betrayal – the feelings known to all cultures. The story intertwined in music had definitely helped keeping the Chinese audience’s attention during their maiden voyage into the jazz zoo’, adds Karnas.
格热戈日·卡尔纳斯人声四重奏还在中国其他几大城市相继举办了音乐会。其中，乐队在四川音乐学院和 “天姿国乐”女子民乐团合作，合奏了卡尔纳斯的原创歌曲及中国民乐曲调。此次演出全部售罄，获得了一直好评。乐队随后在10月24日于中国最具声望的广州星海音乐厅作为广州爵士音乐节的参与乐队之一，与兰迪·贝克，西德广播大乐队，小野丽莎等同台演出，结束此次中国巡演。卡尔纳斯为此次巡演精心准备了一台同时包括波兰语和中文的节目，同时也在讲座中传授了声乐即兴演奏的诀窍。卡尔纳斯说，秉承着中国文化特色，他特意将汉语节目作为此次巡演节目的核心，讲述在圣经旧约中关于失乐园的一则故事。这个故事讲述了爱情，失望，嫉妒心和背叛等所有文化都能随之共鸣的感情。他认为将这个故事融合在音乐中能充分帮助中国观众，尤其是第一次接触爵士乐的观众更深的了解这种音乐形式。

JAZZ PO POLSKU is a music project that presents a wide spectrum of young Polish jazz musicians. It also helps in establishing cultural cooperation and integrates artists from many countries. JPP has visited China three times with the Imagination Quartet's China tour in 2014 and the performances by Pink Freud and Jazzpospolita in 2015.
“爵色波兰”项目致力于促进和推广青年波兰爵士音乐家的发展以及建立多国之间爵士音乐家的文化交流与融合。迄今为止，该项目已连续三年到访中国，成功举办“想象四重奏2014中国巡演”及“Pink Freud乐队和Jazzpospolita乐队2015中国巡演”等活动。

JAZZ PO POLSKU LIVE IN CHINA 2016 was organized by the Plateaux Foundation, co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and supported by the Chinese Jazz Association, Culture.pl, Polish Institute – Culture Service of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing and Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hongkong.
爵色波兰2016中国巡演由Plateaux基金会主办、由波兰文化与民族遗产部资助，在Culture.Pl、波兰驻华大使馆文化处、波兰驻广州领事馆、波兰驻成都领事馆和波兰驻香港领事馆的协助下举办。
