Philipp Bücke, MD, MSc, from University Hospital Bern, Bern, Switzerland, highlights the lack of evidence for the use of endovascular treatment (EVT) in cerebral venous thrombosis. It is currently not clear which subgroups of patients may benefit from EVT and clinicians often wait for therapy until patients deteriorate. In the future, identifying patients whose symptoms may worsen and treating them earlier may be more beneficial. The data Dr Bücke has collected so far is promising with respect to the benefits of EVT in cerebral venous thrombosis, but it is in the early stages and more data is required to determine if this is the optimal treatment for these patients. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference in Basel, Switzerland.
