National Grid to pay people to use less power tonight
The scheme has been issued for today between the hours of 5pm and 6pm and around 26 energy firms are signed up including British Gas, EDF, Eon and Octopus Energy.
Households will be paid to cut back their energy use this evening as the National Grid warns supplies will be "tighter than normal".
The National Grid has said it will be activating its Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) today which will reward households for reducing their energy consumption.
