Earlier this year, Liz Chanruang and her husband Justin were excited to be expecting their first child. Liz started experiencing trouble finding her words and remembering things, but thought her symptoms were just a part of being pregnant.
Then, at 32 weeks of pregnancy, Liz suffered a seizure. Justin rushed her to a nearby hospital, and she was then transported to Sunnybrook where a large mass was found in her brain. Because of her pregnancy, Sunnybrook’s neurology and high-risk obstetrical teams needed to come together to chart out the best course of treatment for her and her unborn baby.
Both Liz and Justin say they are grateful for the care they received at Sunnybrook – at both the Odette Cancer Centre and the DAN Women & Babies Program.
