City of Dallas crews have had a busy summer spraying for West Nile Virus to control the mosquitoes that maybe carrying the disease. The number of sprayings this year compared to last year has increased (2014: 48 spray dates; 2015: 59 spray dates so far), which means more mosquitoes have tested positive for WNV. The increase in spraying is a result of the increase in positive tests. Although more mosquitoes are testing positive for the virus, the number of human cases remains consistent with previous years.
