The Commissioner of Police has said he is not happy with security on Main Street. Following terrorist attacks in Nice, Berlin and – most recently London – Eddie Yome acknowledged that more has to be done to minimise the chances of a car or truck driving into a crowded public area.
He told GBC the Royal Gibraltar Police is working with the Ministry of Transport and the Chamber of Commerce to explore ways of minimizing risk, such as more automated bollards.
In an in-depth interview, the Commissioner confirmed the threat level in Gibraltar remains unchanged at “substantial”, but said the police’s response level has been elevated to “heightened”.
