On June 10, 1948, at the Royal Palace in Athens, the marriage between Mihai de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and Ana de Bourbon-Parma was celebrated.
On December 30, 1947, forced by the communists, King Mihai abdicates. With the abdication of King Mihai, the last monarchy in Eastern Europe disappears, and Romania becomes the Romanian People's Republic.
