(8 Feb 2019) Representatives of 45 nations gathered at Pakistan's port city of Karachi to participate in the multinational naval exercise, Aman 2019, on Friday.
The exercise, which opened with a parade from Pakistani navy personnel, was being held under the motto 'Together for Peace'.
Speaking during the inaugural session, Vice Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi, Commander of the Pakistan Navy Fleet said that Aman was about bridging gaps and making it possible to operate together to pursue shared objectives.
"The cooperation against the threats at sea, which are common to all nations and these threats include terrorism, smuggling, piracy, gang running, human smuggling and a host of other things that we all face at sea. We are here to learn from each other," he said.
The exercise will run until 12 February and has taken place every two years since 2007.
