Jelly Roll said "It's like our record at the end of the album," and mgk said "I wanted to be off that song so bad." mgk wouldn't do the high part at first for Jelly Roll to do, but Jelly Roll thought "it was so your story. it felt so personal to who you are, and your situation and you as a human, the growth, and the changes you've made and I heard it, I was like, this is it, dude." So he tricked mgk into doing the high part, saying "yeah, I'm gonna sing over the high part. I was arguing with you so late that night, I was like, I just got to burp him and put him to bed."
