If you settle your case during your trial, the judge will want us to put your settlement details on the record, in open court.
He will want you to take the witness stand.
You will need to be sworn in.
That means you raise your hand and promise to tell the truth.
I will then ask you a series of questions concerning your case and your desire to settle this case.
When I am done with my brief set of questions, the judge will likely ask you two very specific questions.
Questions having nothing to do with the facts of your lawsuit.
Questions having nothing to do with the attorneys.
Questions having nothing to do with how much you settled for.
Instead, they have everything to do with your motivation for settling.
They have everything to do with your desire to settle.
They have everything to do with why you chose to settle now.
