MANGOSTEEN 💜👑 aka the Queen of Fruits! This fruit is a full experience whether you’re trying it for the first time or you are a seasoned mangosteen fein. Imagine if a grape, soursop, cacao fruit (the white pulp) and lychee all came together to make the most perfect fruit 🤤✨👑
It’s really important to handle mangosteen correctly and to consume them as soon as you can. This fruit is different than others in that it starts out soft, then goes hard at which point you basically can not open it (it becomes a solid rock 😅). When looking for a ripe mangosteen you want to lightly press on the sides or the bottom “flower” figure to make sure there’s give and that it’s not too hard.
Once you’ve peeled off the shell, you’ll see a white flesh that’s typically dripping with juices. There’s about 1-2 seeds in each fruit which are edible and have a nutty flavor. People usually will spit them out though, depends your preference. The flesh will stick to the seed and it’s difficult to completely get off so have fun trying 😉
We’re excited to have some mangosteen this coming weekend! Our mangosteen is grown in Mexico (FL isn’t tropical enough 🤷♀️) and right now the season is just beginning 💜
