2025 Skoda Kodiaq Revealed - The Next Evolution in Family SUVs!
Get ready for the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq, an SUV that’s set to redefine the segment with its blend of performance, space, and advanced features. This flagship three-row SUV from the Czech automaker is preparing to make a big impact in Australia, where it has already proven to be a major success. In 2023, it ranked as one of Skoda’s best-selling models in the country, second only to the smaller Kamiq, with 1,555 units sold. The anticipation for the new Kodiaq is building, especially after Skoda's Brand Day, where local head Michael Irmer revealed a staggered launch plan.
The new Kodiaq will initially arrive with a powerful 2.0-liter TSI engine that delivers 150 kilowatts, paired with all-wheel drive. This is an upgrade from the current 132 kilowatt engine, bringing the Australian model in line with European specifications. Unfortunately, diesel engines and plug-in hybrids won’t be part of the initial offering, nor will the 110 kilowatt 1.5-liter mild-hybrid engine, which will not be available in Australia at launch.
Skoda fans can look forward to the arrival of the high-performance Kodiaq RS later, which is expected to offer an impressive 195 kilowatts of power, placing it on par with top-tier models from Volkswagen like the Golf GTI and Tiguan. The 2025 Kodiaq has grown slightly in size, now measuring 4758 millimeters in length, 1864 millimeters in width, and 1659 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 2791 millimeters. These changes result in more space in the third row and a larger boot, which offers an extra 30 to 75 liters depending on the variant.
While the global version of the Kodiaq is available as a five- or seven-seater, Australia is likely to receive only the three-row version. Inside, the Kodiaq boasts a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit display, a 10-inch touchscreen, a nine-speaker sound system, multiple USB-C ports, and a new gear selector positioned behind the steering wheel, creating additional storage space.
Safety remains a top priority with the Kodiaq, featuring innovations like door opening traffic warnings, Collision Avoidance Assist, and autonomous braking for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. The SUV also includes an autonomous parking assistant that can handle head-in and parallel parking, even allowing the driver to park the vehicle remotely.
Since its launch in 2016, the Kodiaq has sold over 841,900 units globally. The 2025 model is poised to continue this success, offering a compelling mix of performance, technology, and comfort. Keep an eye out for more updates on this exciting release.
