Just a quick look at a issue we had when setting up our 2020 Christmas Light Display.

Could be caused by using out of date pixel controller firmware but thought we would share anyway.

The first few pixels on this string connected to a Differential Smart Receiver Board "Board B" has the first few pixels turned on when no data is being sent from the controller.

Hope this little tip helps you get yours sorted.
Note: We first checked we have the mode and termination switches in the correct positions.
