The Amram Pillars were carved naturally by once flowing water that cut into the Limestone. During ancient times the Egyptians and later the Romans had Copper mines in this area. The pillars are named after the (mostly dry) Nahal Amram Stream. Once you reach the parking area by car, its a 15 min walk to the pillars. Amram pillers, not to be confused with Solomon's Pillars which are some 27 km north from here and in the Timna Park.
