Hi, I’m Ian and I live in Surrey in the UK.
In this video I will show how I monitor the ASIAIR Pro during the night. Well, the truth is I don’t really monitor it much during the night. My overall process is very simple.
Outside:
Set up mount, telescope, camera etc. and balance and put on dew straps.
Switch on AISAIR Pro and log into its direct wifi. Take one or two images to get in rough focus. Then undertake Polar Alignment. Once complete, move scope back to home position. Then select a star near that night’s imaging area. Get focus on the Star with a Bahtinov mask. Then I move to target, start guiding and then start Autorun. If using the plan mode start guiding when on star and then start the plan I’ve chosen for that night. I’m now done outside.
Inside:
I monitor the first few images coming in, now through my home wifi, whilst watching Tv or doing something else. I then leave it the rest of the night. It will do a meridian flip if required and move to new targets if set to do so. When I wake in the morning, the telescope will be parked back at the home position (which I put into Autorun or the Plan mode) and I then review images taken before switching off the Air Pro. I will often do a screen recording of all these images so I can scan later when I’m using Subframe Selector in Pixinsight or the DSS to view star count or Blink in Pixinsight looking for any poor images, satellites. I then switch off the ASIAIR Pro and am done.
I will then take my telescope and camera inside and do my flats and dark flats, ensuring I don’t change the focus etc. With the Evostar 72ED this is easy to do as it is very light. I’m now ready to start processing my image.
Final image in this video is M31 the Andromeda Galaxy.
