Last winter barnacle geese at Mersehead were massively affected by bird flu. A third of the population of Svalbard barnacle geese died on the Solway. This year staff at the reserve are monitoring birds to see whether the disease returns. So far it's good news. Colin Bartholomew from the reserve explains more in this video.
