New Jersey is partnering with tri-state leaders to develop a robust contact tracing program. It's something health experts say is vital to any reopening and minimizing the human toll of this virus.
Statewide the number of fatalities is now 5,063 with 314 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday. The statewide total of confirmed positive coronavirus cases now stands at 95,865, with 3,551 new positive tests.
Gov. Phil Murphy says the hospitalization rate is one of the most important measures of the progress in this fight, and the number did drop overnight to 7,210 patients hospitalized and 1,983 in critical care. Of that, 1,570 ventilators are in use and 745 patients have beat the virus and were discharged from a hospital in the last 24 hours.
