This Week's Highlights:
July 31, 2023 (Mogadishu, Somalia): IGAD Center of Excellence for Climate Adaptation and Environmental Protection Director meets with the UNHCR Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa to discuss ways to enhance collaboration in durable and impactful solutions for the climate and conflict-displaced populations in the IGAD region.
August 1, 2023 (Kampala, Uganda) The Government of Uganda, in collaboration with IGAD, organise a validation workshop for the 4th Biennial Review of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Report.
August 1, 2023 (Bishoftu, Ethiopia): The Government of Ethiopia, in collaboration with IGAD, organises a national consultation meeting on the Kampala Declaration on jobs, livelihoods, and self-reliance for refugees, returnees, and host communities.
August 2, 2023 (Arta, Djibouti): The Government of Djibouti, in collaboration with IGAD, organises a National Consultative Workshop to Review the Draft Report on the Management of Refugee Status in the IGAD region as well as the IGAD Policy Framework on the Protection of Refugees.
August 3, 2023 (Nanyuki, Kenya): IGAD CVE, with support from the Government of Sweden, brings together media practitioners in a Regional peer-to-peer learning forum to share experiences in tackling violent extremism stories from a gender and conflict-sensitive perspective.
August 4, 2023 (Mogadishu, Somalia): IGAD, with support from the World Bank, organises a National Validation Workshop for the 4th CAADP Report for Somalia.
August 5, 2023 (Nairobi, Kenya): IGAD, with support from the EU, organises a training for 17 field monitors from Djibouti, South Sudan, and Sudan on conflict early warning data gathering and reporting.
August 6, 2023 (Nairobi, Kenya): IGAD and FAO sign an MoU outlining means to strengthen their existing successful partnership in key areas of collaboration towards improving Agriculture and food security in Eastern Africa.
