I try a new battery-operated cordless string trimmer after being disappointed several years ago by the original Ryobi 40V trimmer. I've been very impressed by other Ryobi BRUSHLESS MOTOR power tools, so I thought I would give this new 18V Brushless Expand-It compatible string trimmer a try. Indeed, I am impressed and this is a keeper.

These 6ah 18V batteries for Ryobi are a great deal - [ Ссылка ] - They are less expensive and claim to be higher capacity than the 4ah Ryobi batteries, although I wouldn't trust the 6ah rating, and derate that by at least 1ah. I expect that they are 4-5ah, so at least the same as stock 4ah Ryobi batteries.
Also, I really love using the brush cutter attachment with it: [ Ссылка ] - it is so quiet, don't have to feed string all the time, can use it to edge, clean weeds off asphalt and concrete, and it cuts through larger vegetation like butter.
Who's it for? This string trimmer is perfect if you already own Ryobi 18V tools and batteries, and want the ultimate in convenience for trimming or using other Expand-It attachments. Each 4AH battery lasts about 30-45 minutes on low. You can keep trimming as long as you have charged batteries to throw at it, which for me, is pretty much indefinitely. I have enough batteries and chargers that I could recharge them while using others.
Who's it not for? Someone who doesn't already own Ryobi 18V batteries, and is not interested in buying more batteries than the one that it comes with. If you need to do hours of trimming on end or need the power of a gas trimmer to cut through heavy vegetation.
I can compare this to my corded Expand-It compatible string trimmer, which is a beast in terms of power. But dragging the cord around is well... a drag. This 18V trimmer doesn't have the raw unleashed power of the corded string trimmer, but I really don't need that much power for 99% of the trimming I and most people need to do around small yards. I actually prefer the lower power for a less stressful trimming experience.
