George Berkeley proposed what has become known as his "Master Argument" against the reality of the physical world.
It was called the master argument because if it worked, no other argument was needed for Berkeley's view - Idealism.
Idealism is the view that the only things that exist are ideas.
Basically, Berkeley's argument was that the only things we're aware of are thoughts, and physical things are things that exist without being thought of. By definition, then, we cannot conceive of physical things. Only of ideas of physical things. And if we cannot conceive of physical things, then we cannot claim that physical things exist.
