PUTOK / STAR BREAD
TOTAL TIME

Bake: 15-18 minutes
MAKES
12 Putok / Star Bread
INGREDIENTS:
3 teaspoon instant dry yeast
1 tablespoon + ½ cup white sugar
1 ¼ cup fresh milk, warm
4 cups all purpose flour
4 tablespoon milk powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar with warm milk. Stir and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, milk powder, baking powder and salt. Give a good mix consistently; add yeast mixture, butter, egg and mix thoroughly.
3. Lightly flour surface; knead for 7~10 mins. Grease bowl and dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
4. Punch down dough; shape to a log and cut into 12. Roll and shape to a greased pan. Cover and let rise for about 40 mins or until doubled.
5. Using a scissor, make a cut on top to make a crown. Brush with butter. Bake to a preheated oven at 180°C / 356°F for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool and serve.
