Quranic teachers in Gombe are expressing concern over the shortage of classes available to accommodate more students. In the community, it's customary for affluent individuals to sponsor teachers, who then provide classes for Quranic education.
These teachers are calling on the government to develop a specialized curriculum for Quranic education, emphasizing the need for such initiatives to ensure a brighter future for the students involved.
In Gombe, it has been a longstanding tradition for young children to attend Quranic schools called Islamiyya or Makarantar Allo during their early childhood years. These schools have been a cornerstone of many communities for generations.
However, there is currently a challenge with inadequate classroom space, particularly exacerbated during the rainy season. This shortage of classrooms is impacting the learning experience for pupils, highlighting a pressing need for infrastructure improvements to support Quranic education in the region.
