The India Meteorological Department predicts the storm, currently a deep depression, will intensify over the Bay of Bengal and make landfall near the Marakkanam region by Saturday morning. Red alerts have been issued for coastal districts, including Puducherry and Cuddalore, with low-lying areas on high alert. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and state authorities, including NDRF and SDRF teams, are on high readiness to manage the situation.
