I spent 2 weeks on the road sleeping in this small, compact sedan. This road trip took me across Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming (Yellowstone), Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and Oregon. I was very comfortable sleeping in my tiny little Saturn. This is a tutorial about how to sleep comfortably in a small car using stuff you already have, no need to buy anything special! Sleeping in your car while on a road trip can help you save tons of money on accommodation. When I wasn’t staying with friends/family, I slept at free campgrounds which are all across America.
This sleep set-up was just for me (one person) but you could easily sleep two people if you don’t lay diagonal- you just wouldn’t be able to stretch out completely. I was able to fit all of my camping supplies in my car with the bed set up, allowing me to crawl into bed without moving anything which was very convenient.
