:: About LibreOffice 7.1.4 ::
TDF announced the release of LibreOffice 7.1.4 to improve compatibility with MS Office. Check out what's new and see how to install or update.
The LibreOffice is the office suite developed by The Document Foundation (TDF). But it's much more than that: it's one of the most popular open-source, cross-platform office suites.
In summary, LibreOffice is a free office suite compatible with the main office suites on the market.
The Document Foundation has now released the open-source, cross-platform office suite LibreOffice 7.1.4 for all supported platforms, a major release that introduces new features and improvements.
What's New in LibreOffice 7.1.4
Although in media like LxA we often talk about one software that serves as an alternative to another, the alternatives are generally not perfect.
This is something that is demonstrated in each of the most popular free office suite releases, as one of the changes The Document Foundation always mentions is that changes have been introduced to improve compatibility with MS Office.
Furthermore, this is something they also did now in the LibreOffice 7.1.4 release note.
In total, TDF claims to have made about 80 fixes to the latest version of the LO community. The fifth part, which would coincide with about 16, focused on fixing compatibility with DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and older DOC formats.
Once again, they took advantage of the launch to recommend companies move to the Enterprise version, with which they will receive enhanced support and on-demand features.
Once again, we have to remember that LibreOffice 7.1.4 is the most up-to-date version of the suite, which means it has the latest improvements, but also more bugs.
Therefore, The Document Foundation continues to recommend LibreOffice 7.0.6 to production teams.
On the other hand, we were informed about a migration protocol to support the transfer of proprietary suite companies to LibreOffice:
“The Document Foundation has developed a migration protocol to help companies move from proprietary office suites to LibreOffice, which is based on deploying an LTS version of the LibreOffice Enterprise family, as well as migration training and consulting for certified professionals who offer.
