Today on our 2017 Toyota Corolla, we're going to be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers RRVA118B-2. These are the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, 46" long. This also comes in silver, part number RRVA118S-2. We'll also be using part number RRRLKVA. These are the Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars, and part number DK383 and this is the Custom Fit Kit for the Corolla. The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories onto your roof, and frees up space in your vehicle for you and your family. It has these Vortex rubber strips here at the top, and that coupled with the aerodynamic design of the bar, will actually cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving.
Also since it has those strips at the top, you can also use this to install t-track accessories through this portion here. Once you have them installed you would cut the strip to length and put it around your accessories. Both bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure it can withstand that weight. Also in our end caps, they are lockable so once you install this onto your roof it's going to be secure to your roof as well. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack, let's go ahead and show you how it gets put together. We have our rear crossbar on the table partially assembled. We'll start by placing our foot onto our end.
We have our leg here, turn our bar upside down. We're going to insert this top portion here into our t-slot at the bottom. We'll line them up and slide them into place. Now at this point, you take your measurement strip here. Measure out the distance between this point and our leg, then cut the strip to length.
However, for demonstration purposes, we'll just measure it out and you'll find these measurements in your instructions. Once we have our measurements set, we'll tighten down this screw in the center with our included tightening tool. With that tightened down we'll put in our end cap now. Take our included tool and secure it into place. Now we can install our fit kit. It comes with two pieces, we're going to have a rubber foot pad and our clamp.
The rubber foot pad is labeled and has an arrow on it. You want the arrow facing away from the vehicle. You'll see it has these attachment points and they match up with our foot, so we'll just push it into place. Next we'll install our clamp. To do that we'll remove the screw here, insert our clamp, and reinstall the screw but just loosely to hold our clamp into place. Now we can set this on our vehicle. Next we'll take our crossbar spread measurement and that's going to be measured from center of the bar to center of the bar. You'll find this measurement in your instructions. Snug this up on both sides and then we'll go back and forth tightening it down about five or six turns each side until it's completely tightened down to where it needs to be. With everything tightened down, our last step is to install our locking end caps. Now we're ready to install our accessories and hit the road. There you have it for the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System on our 2017 Toyota Corolla.
