Gegründet wurde die Band im Jahre 1974 von Sänger und Tenor-Saxophonist Albie Donnelly (Albert Edward Donnelly, 12.08.1947, Huyton, Liverpool) und Schlagzeuger Dave Irving, (David Geddes Irving, 18.11.1946, Crosby, Liverpool) in Liverpool, nachdem beide ihre frühere Band „In Crowd" verließen.
Die Originalbesetzung bestand aus Albie Donnelly, Ozzie Yue (Gitarre und Gesang), Allen ‚Gaz' Gaskell (Tenorsaxophonist, Gitarre, Harmonika und Gesang), Alan Peters (Trompete), Bob Robertson (Baritonsaxofon), Pete Newton (Bassgitarre), Tony Dunmore (Bass) und Dave Irving (Schlagzeug).
