A Dalek encounters one of the powerful defensive roots of the Exxilon city, and the Doctor watches as the two metal-clad foes battle it out.

To film the fight between the Dalek and the root, a goon prop stood in for the regular Dalek prop and several flash charges were attached to the neck rings. These were set off as the root hit the Dalek prop, creating the effect of the root attacking the Dalek with explosive blasts.
