Licensing expert Stephen Key explains why only sharing your ideas for new products with companies that are friendly to inventors is the best way you can protect yourself. Please, before you submit your invention idea, read their policies very closely. Do they sound friendly to inventors (fair, balanced), or not? Is this information easily accessible, or not? Do they share what they are looking for or what is required to submit? You can really begin to understand how they work with inventors right away. Sometimes, this language is not friendly at all. Not all companies that say they look at outside submissions are friendly. Beware. Stephen shares some of the language he has seen that is not inventor-friendly.
