Los Angeles artist and filmmaker Zackary Drucker works at the intersection of media and performance to break and reconstruct notions of gender and sexuality, manipulating an array of tactics, tropes and stories in her participatory and often collaborative practice. Concerned both personally and artistically with depictions of transgender people, Drucker suggests that footage found online collectively illuminates and shapes a developing history. Here she shares an incredible entrance to Tandi Iman Dupree's drag show, an interview with performer Octavia St. Laurent, and a ritual of removing a lifelike mask. As Drucker notes, the digital sphere offers these icons immortality.
