In Melbourne in 1920, Archbishop Mannix presided over a St Patrick’s Day celebration that for Australia’s large Irish community was a celebration of Ireland’s emergence from British rule as its own nation. This newly remastered footage is presented in association with the Embassy of Ireland and the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and features a live piano accompaniment.
