Shoulder Instability for Orthopaedic FRCS Exams | Orthopaedic Academy

This is a teaching session on shoulder instability for orthopedic exams, co-hosted by Nikki Evans and Ruth Threadgold from ORUK.
- Professor Duncan Tennant, a consultant orthopedic surgeon and professor of orthopedic education at St George's Hospital and University, is the guest lecturer.
- Shoulder instability can be classified as anterior, posterior, inferior, or multi-directional.
- Clinical assessment involves examining the cervical spine, and range of motion, and performing the apprehension test and other investigations such as X-rays, MRI, and ultrasound can also be useful.
- Treatment options include rehabilitation, inferior capsule shift, and surgery. Muscle patterning may occur in patients, and physiotherapy can help with this.
