Eagletree Eagle Eyes Ground Station and Antenna Tracker Build Log. I've watched lots of Pan/Tilt Antenna Tracker videos. The ingenuity out there is amazing, but I've been frustrated with the lack of how-to information in most of those videos. So this is a walk around with explanations on how I made my ground station. The end of the video has static images showing measurements of the various components.
Note: The size of the pan module was dictated by two things - The ServoCity Top Mount pan unit is quite long and I wanted the pivot to be dead center on the unit so I had an equal amount of dead space + 20mm on the other side of the shaft. I also built it a bit tall to provide plenty of clearance for the rotating cables coming from the video receivers.
Everything I need for a fully functional ground station is contained in this one unit. Ground recording, 5.8ghz video relay, monitor for backup/guest viewing, diversity/tracker controller, dual vrx, power monitoring, and USB charging. Eventually I'll add provisions to move my Dragonlink transmitter to the pan assembly and use a 2.4ghz RC RX for a relay giving me full tracking for radio control and video.
Please feel free to ask questions in the comments. I'll do my best to answer.
