Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that involves inserting breast implants in order to add volume and reshape the breasts.

The breast augmentation process itself generally requires between one and two hours of operating time. Anesthesia will be administered to ensure you don't experience any pain or discomfort during the treatment. The plastic surgeon will make an incision in the surrounding area of the breasts and then place implants either behind your breast tissue or below the chest muscles, depending on your chosen implant placement.

Lastly, your doctor will close any incisions with stitches or skin tape. At Amelia Aesthetics, you'll be provided with information for a safe recovery and scar care to guarantee optimal results.

Saline implants are filled with a saline solution while silicone ones consist of cohesive silicone gel (commonly called "gummy bear implants"). These implants may be either textured or smooth. Textured implants are designed to adhere to tissues and can come as both round and teardrop (anatomical) shapes, whereas smooth ones move more freely and are round.

Recovery from a breast augmentation may take several days and up to twelve months to see final results. This can feel like a long time, but being open about the recovery timeline will help you understand what to expect and stay realistic in your expectations.

With any great endeavor comes some risk. Your results will show progressively throughout your healing process but the ultimate outcomes and full-mark healing will take between nine and twelve months.
