The Mumbai Nagpur Expressway would connect the two major cities of Maharashtra. It will be known as the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, running through 392 villages, across 10 districts. It is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities from 15 hours to 8 hours. 9,900 hectares of land have been acquired for its construction and 145 hectares of land are supposed to be used for amenities and facilities along the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
Some important facts about the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway:
1. Project expense is expected to be Rs 55,000 crore
2. The length is planned to be 701 km
3. It will pass through Nagpur-Wardha-Amravati-Washim-Buldhana-Jalna-Aurangabad-Nashik-Ahmednagar-Thane
4. It will be implemented and executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)
5. Speed of up to 150 km per hour will be allowed
6. It will be an eight-laned Mumbai Nagpur Expressway, i.e., six lanes & 2 service roads
7. It will have a total of 26 toll booths
