[ Offshore Tax ] Why Uruguay Should Be Your Plan A, Not Plan B?
Uruguay, the most democratic and least corrupt country in Latin America, boasts numerous advantages for residents and visitors alike. With the region's largest middle class by the percentage of the population, Uruguay prioritizes social equality, offering healthcare and education to all legal residents without the burden of incurring debt.
Safety is another notable aspect of Uruguay, as it stands among the safest countries in Latin America. Specifically, Punta del Este, a renowned destination within Uruguay, is recognized as one of the safest places in the country. Notably, one doesn't need to acquire residency status to purchase property, open a bank account, or spend extended periods of time in Punta del Este.
For tourists visiting Uruguay, a 90-day stay is permitted on a tourist visa, which can be extended for an additional 90 days for a small fee. Consequently, visitors often have the opportunity to enjoy a maximum stay of 180 days without the need to leave the country.

DERREN JOSEPH:
So, let's talk about Uruguay, is Uruguay your plan A, or should it be your plan B? So I did a, we did an hour-long conversation last week, I think it was. So this would be in the middle of June with Paul KITTSON. So PAUL KITTSON lives in Paraguay. So what we did is we had a conversation about your right versus Paraguay. So if you haven't listened to that, maybe I mean you are interested in Latin America, you might want to check him out or you might wanna listen to that, that podcast that we, we did last week. So anyway, so I was in, as I mentioned, and spent time talking to, lawyers in other professionals based in Montevideo and went to Thete, colonial Sacramento, just to get that perspective as to how things work, in Uruguay with that point of view. And, and again, as I mentioned, I have quite a few clients who, again, they're financially secure, financially independent, they're able to run their businesses, they from wherever in the world, they're completely location independent. They have investments, and they live off those investments as the case may be. So your why has been coming up and I thought I'll check it out just so, just so that I have that perspective, especially in terms of taxation. So I can work with and advise my clients who want to consider that an option, right? People have been pitching Uruguay as a plan B, but having visited Uruguay, my thinking is that Uruguay might actually be a plan A rather than a plan B. And, and, here's why I, I, firstly super low barriers to entry in terms of immigration. It's so easy. Those chasing commission will keep pushing the investment options. But there've been some recent changes in law, which means that no investment is really required. If you have a tier a passport, which of course all my clients do, you can arrive you, it's super easy. The board, you just scan at the airport and you are in no conversation or real questions and you can just immediately apply for residence. It's as simple as that.
