When you think of iconic American cook books, one that always comes to mind is the classic red and white Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book. In publication since 1930, more than 34 million copies have been sold. When the BH&G cook book was introduced, it was a new idea in cook books. Using a binder that would lay flat on a counter, with tabs that would easily take the cook to the right section, with helpful hints on meal planning, nutrition, setting an attractive table all included. Here we look at a few examples from the Cavalcade library of this classic cook book. This is a book that taught many people the basics of cooking and baking.
