Building on Sonos' success with previous products such as the Play Base and the Beam, the Arc adds several key features that have been on the wish list for many years. With manufacturers continuing to make thinner TVs, the Sonos Arc fills the need for audio quality. And it does it in such a way that blends into your decor and doesn't require the stringing of cabling to get that home theatre experience.
The Sonos Arc brings forth a big jump in immersive audio thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. The technology, along with the additional up-firing speakers in the Arc, showers you with sound. Keep in mind, this is only available on source material that supports it, but you still get Dolby surround sound as a default. The Arc supports the latest Sonos S2 software update, so you also get all the new features. But this also means that it is not compatible with the original Sonos S1 software, meaning it will only be compatible with devices supporting the more modern software.
At a $1,000 CAD, the Sonos Arc is on the premium end of the soundbar spectrum. You do get a decent performance for the price plus Alexa built right in. Now you can yell at your Sonos Arc as well.
