All of this was recorded on 9/26/24 except for the bit of dialogue at the end. Not surprised in the slightest that this is now the new longest length video on this channel. A lot of the length feels artificially stretched mostly due to two things: the dialogue and the repeat fights.
While it is nice hearing our companions talking to each other I feel like a lot of it repeats in terms of structure. Like there`s a few too many times of 2 characters going back and forth on something and someone else chimes in along the lines of "Let`s focus on what we`re doing right now!" in this and the previous updates. Also not a fan of the constant recapping of story beats to other characters, not a fan of the exposition approach to character dialogue.
Glitches, lots and lots of glitches. Everyone knows the deal at this point but it always a surprise as to what can be broken next. The lack of crit and attack animations for my Bucc on every fight was just the cherry on top of a shit sundae. Sure it makes the battles go a lot faster but at the same time I really don`t like seeing the game in the constant buggy state it`s in right now. Also I """really""" loved having Jake not show up at the end so I couldn't even get the final bits of dialogue and complete the story AND had to record it on a different character, very cool.
I didn`t mind the difficulty of some of the fights honestly. The constant repeat battle you`re forced to do with the Armada every time you go near that square area with the cages is annoying as hell an is the most transparent attempt at stretching the playtime. I also didn`t like when we started to fight the Draconians ESPECIALLY the privateers with 2 ranks of Follow Through, those guys are a pain in the ass. They do this weird thing where they can just crit their normal attacks the same thing happened on the Tartarus update, just feels like artificial/overtuned difficulty.
Bellatrix is 100% doable it`s just that I`m bad at the game lol, but the fight that I absolutely fucking hated was against the Temple Guardians. You can`t even take them out with a friend and if they win that victory doesn`t carry over to you despite being in a SIGIL, thanks KI. I managed to beat them by getting 3 of those stupid witchdoctor birds with 1 scarab. I just had to keep re-entering the sigil in hopes of getting the 3 since the scarabs with Riposte 5 and Sneaky Sneaky 2 are such a bitch to fight against.
Really not a fan of the new villain, Oksana it feels completely derivative and overdone in terms of ideas. It`s like let us combine parts of both Malistaire and Morganthe into one with a touch of Dragonspyre to go. I believe the main writer said bringing back Queen would`ve been too predictable but there`s literally a cutscene when you complete Valencia Part 2 that Queen survived that final fight. It just feels like an excuse not to have her as the new main villain instead replacing her with the most meh option they could think of. The cool thing about Pirate is how magic isn`t as dominant in the setting as it is in Wizard. Like sure it`s not like there was no magic at all but right now with this and the Tartarus update it feels, I dunno, more noticeable than before?
Maybe I`m being a cynical bitch idk.
At this point I`m not sure I want to play and pay crowns for the next update if this is gonna be the quality standard of current Live Realm updates. It just makes it clear that I have to start making that playthrough of the game on a Privateer as soon as possible before this game breaks any further.
