The NEU launched a major campaign against agencies providing supply teachers and support staff to schools by targeting the offices of one of the worst, Teaching Personnel in Central London.
Teaching Personnel, as NEU General Secretary Daniel Kebede points out, are corporate exploiters who should have no place in education. While they make millions in profits that could be going into resources for children, and avoid taxes by being registered in Luxembourg, hardworking supply teachers and support staff are being underpaid by about £40 to £100 a day.
Today’s action was just the start of a campaign which ultimately is about resisting rampant privatisation, and restoring education as a public good operating in the interests of our children - not CEOs and shareholders.
