Pomelo is a large citrus fruit, that is mostly popular in Asia and it is closely related to grapefruit though it is sweeter than grapefruit. Just like other citrus fruits, it has several health benefits, so let’s see them.
Health benefits of Pomelo
First of all, pomelo is a great source of vitamin C, which is mostly beneficial for your immune system. Vitamin C can help fight viruses and infections and it also supports skin health, because it helps with the formation of collagen.
Pomelo is rich in antioxidants, just like other fruits and vegetables. These antioxidants help reduce the damage that is caused by free radicals and oxidative damage and can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses. Pomelos also contains the antioxidant called lycopene, which is also found in tomatoes, and it has anti-inflammatory benefits.
Because of the high antioxidant content of pomelo, it might have anti-aging benefits.
Pomelo is rich in fiber, just like other citrus fruits. It is especially high in insoluble fiber, which helps prevent constipation and makes your digestion smoother.
Pomelo is high in vitamin and minerals such as potassium, copper, thiamine, riboflavin.
It is beneficial for heart health because it can reduce levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, which are both risk factors of heart disease. It is also rich in potassium, which mostly supports heart health and helps regulate blood pressure.

Where I live in Hungary, most supermarkets have them during winter season. Buti f you can’t find them in supermarkets, your local Asian stores surely have them!
