On April 4, 2018, Senator James Lankford delivered a floor speech in the U.S. Senate on the issue of free and fair trade, its impact on Oklahoma’s economy, and the urgency for trade renegotiations deals to be completed soon. During the speech, Lankford gave several Oklahoma examples for how trade deals impact farmers, manufacturers, small business, and even the oil and gas industry. Lankford also urged the Trump administration to quickly complete the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement, and also be careful about retaliatory tariffs that could destabilize the economy.
