Is a Masters in Nursing Informatics the only route to be in the Informatics space?
The short answer is - No! As Juliette stated, there is a bowl of certificates and degrees from which you can choose to crossover into the healthcare informatics space. Just be sure to do your research to determine which one would work best for you!
*** For the RHIA and RHIT certification, you need to have a degree in Health Informatics from a CAHIIM Accredited school
Start with finding someone who seems to be doing the kind of work you are drawn to. What programs or degrees have they utilized along their path of pursuit? I was quite devastated when I didn't get into the Master's of Nursing Informatics program I first applied to. Turns out - I liked the other program I completed much better!
