Why is it so hard to find the right medications to help people with Fragile X?
In this video, Carissa Sirois, PhD, Co-Principal Investigator, University of Wisconsin-Madison, explains how her FRAXA-funded research will help determine a person’s drug response through a sampling of their cells. By screening medicines with this approach, years of trying to find the best drugs could be avoided.
Future clinical trials would also be improved by identifying patients that may respond better to drugs being tested.

FRAXA’s mission is to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Fragile X syndrome. We directly fund research grants and fellowships at top universities around the world. We partner with biomedical and pharmaceutical companies, large and small, to bridge the gap between research discoveries and actual treatments.
Treatments for Fragile X are likely to help people affected by autism, Alzheimer’s, and other brain disorders.
