Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Copy only the subtotal rows in Excel.
Welcome to another #shorts video from MrExcel! In this quick tutorial, I'll show you how to easily copy only the subtotal rows in Excel. It's a handy feature that can save you time and frustration when working with large datasets.
First, let's take a look at the group and outline button in the ribbon. By clicking on #2, we can collapse the data down to just the subtotal rows. However, if we were to select and copy this data, it would also include the hidden rows and subtotals.
But fear not, there's a simple solution. Hold down the Alt key and press the semi colon key. This will select only the visible cells, excluding the hidden rows and subtotals. You can also add this feature to your Quick Access Toolbar for easy access in the future.
Now that we have just the subtotal rows selected, we can copy and paste them into a new sheet or workbook. Simply press Ctrl+N for a new sheet, and then Ctrl+V to paste the data. And just like that, we have successfully copied only the subtotal rows.
