This part of The Guardian chronology starts with Shoghi Effendi recovering from burn-out after 18 intense months of service to ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in Haifa at a sanatorium near Paris, France. Shoghi Effendi then travels to England, begins his studies at Oxford University, travels to Bournemouth, Sussex to see Dr. Esslemont several times and also travels to Scotland. An important event of this period in Shoghi Effendi’s life is his extremely meaningful visit to the Bahá’í community of Manchester. Shoghi Effendi never completed his full two years of study at Oxford, and this part covers the four terms he attended university, and the success of his studies, his life at Oxford.
