Shadow Communications Minister Michelle Rowland says “we’ll need to wait and see” whether the harsher restrictions imposed on the 12 local government areas of concern will be the necessary circuit breaker.
The new restrictions include a 9pm to 5am curfew which will be introduced at midnight for all residents in the LGAs except for authorised workers and emergencies.
“Very valid questions have been asked about why these measures were dismissed in the first instance and now why are they only being applied to certain parts of Sydney,” she told Sky News Australia.
“So, I think the inequities here are certainly under question, but we’ll wait and see what the results end up bringing on that front.”
